Meet Our Friends at the University of Mount Olive

The North Carolina Pickle Festival has many friends, but among the largest is the University of Mount Olive. As one of our presenting sponsors, along with Mt. Olive Pickle Company and the Town of Mount Olive, the university is an integral partner.

In addition to its financial support, UMO provides its facilities and its physical resources to help make ours a successful event. It hosts the Cuke Patch 5K through downtown early Saturday morning, it offers free parking to hundreds who choose to use our downtown shuttle, its grassy field stages the festival’s helicopter rides over town, and so much more.

Its newest introduction to the festival is its Artisan Village, which will feature a dozen fine artists in its inaugural year.

With faith-based values at its core, the University of Mount Olive has been an integral part of our community since the 1950s, and it has a passion for serving the Mount Olive community and the greater Eastern North Carolina region.

Not many small towns the size of Mount Olive can boast of a robust athletics program that includes Division II national baseball champs, first-rate cultural and arts opportunities, and access to state of the art facilities for special events and wellness.

It serves as a regional center for agribusiness development, research and learning through the Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center, and its innovative programs for working adults, offered at eight locations throughout Eastern North Carolina, has transformed lives and livelihoods.

Founded by the Convention of Free Will Baptists, the university is consistently ranked as one of the Top 20 Best Colleges in North Carolina by a variety of sources.

We are honored that UMO continues to partner with the pickle festival. For more information about the University of Mount Olive, visit www.umo.edu. For details on the N.C.
